Professional Biography

Briana Bazile is a graduate research fellow in the Gonthier Lab at the University of Kentucky, pursuing a Master's degree in Entomology. She earned her B.A. and Best Thesis Award in the Sustainability, Environment, Justice, and Health (SEJH) concentration at New York University. Her research at NYU, along with her work with Black Farmers Index, deepened her focus on the social dimensions of biodiversity in farming and food systems. Briana's current research is rooted in community with local Black farmers and Black-led organizations such as the Kentucky Black Farmers Alliance, Black Soil, and Seedleaf. Through these partnerships, she addresses equity for Black farmers while investigating the effectiveness of sustainable pest management strategies for them, with them.
